Safety & trust

A travel concierge has to be honest, or it's worse than nothing. Here's how we work, and what to do if anything feels off.

We don't invent properties

Every stay we recommend with a name and price is a real, bookable listing in our supplier system. If a destination has no inventory, we say so — we don't invent "Chic Mykonos Retreat €145/night" to fill space. Multiple guards enforce this: prompt rules, a deterministic strip pass on every reply, and human verification on flagged outputs.

If you ever see a property name that turns out not to exist, please report it. We treat it as a sev-1 bug.

Where the data comes from

Stays come from accommodation suppliers — established APIs (e.g. LiteAPI) and direct hosts we've onboarded. Reviews and ratings are passed through from the source. Area information comes from a mix of OpenStreetMap, our own curated profiles, and on-the-ground events feeds.

Where we're thin on data, we say so honestly — "no reviews yet, you'd be an early guest" — rather than embellish.

Travel advisories

For destinations on the UK FCDO or US State Department advisory lists, we surface the advisory and link to the official source before recommending. We don't refuse to discuss those places — informed adults make informed choices — but you'll see the warning before you commit.

Travelling with kids or vulnerable people

When you tell us about minors, accessibility needs, religious context, recovery, or grief, we shift our recommendations and tone to match. We won't suggest nightlife for a family trip or pubs for a religious figure. We try to read context, but you can always tell us directly — "no nightlife", "ground floor only", "quiet area" — and we'll respect it.

Payments

Card data goes directly to Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Bookings appear on your statement as STAYBOTIC* followed by the property name.

Your data

We collect what you tell the concierge. We don't sell it. We don't use it to train external models. You can export, correct, or delete it — see our Privacy Policy.

If you're in crisis

If you're having thoughts of self-harm or suicide, please reach out to a real person who can help:

  • UK — Samaritans: call 116 123 (free, 24/7) · text SHOUT to 85258
  • Ghana — Ghana Police: 191 · or contact your local embassy if you're abroad
  • WorldwideBefrienders Worldwide directory

Our concierge is built for travel, not crisis support. We won't pretend otherwise — if you tell us you're in distress, we'll point you to a real listener instead of suggesting a hotel.

Report a problem

Anything off? Wrong info, a closed property, a payment issue, or a safety concern — tell us. Report a problem here or email safety@staybotic.com. Urgent reports (safety, payments) get triaged first.
