## Where to stay

**Lara, not Kaleiçi.** Kaleiçi may have the charm of yesteryear, but Lara has the beach clubs, the swanky hotels, and the locals who prefer a more contemporary vibe. Expect streets lined with chic boutiques and cafes such as The Bigchefs, which serves an excellent Turkish breakfast. It's where Antalya comes to play when the sun is out — and that's nearly every day.

**Gürsu for a local feel.** Want to know where Antalya residents actually reside? Gürsu is your answer. Located just behind Konyaaltı Beach, this is where you'll find authentic Turkish eateries like 7 Mehmet. Stroll down Atatürk Park, a local favorite, and enjoy the stunning sunset views without the crowded throngs.

**Konyaaltı Beach for a seaside stay.** If the sea is calling, answer it by staying near Konyaaltı Beach. It’s less crowded than the beaches of Lara and packed with more local flavor — think casual fish restaurants and local markets. ## When to go

April, May, September, and October offer the best blend of pleasant weather and fewer tourists. Avoid July and August unless you enjoy the sweltering heat and crowds.
